Since its foundation in 2008, the European Danube Academy (EDA) has developed into an important platform for the exchange of ideas, opinions and information on the entire Danube region. With a variety of projects and publications it contributes to the promotion of exchange, science and education and thus actively contributes to the success of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. This volume describes the context of her work and presents a selection of EDA projects of the past years. One of the most important projects is the Danube School Series, which began in 2014 and has since produced 14 events throughout the Danube Region. The mostly one-week Danube Schools on various topics related to the Danube Region are aimed at postgraduate students, young scientists and professionals from the Danube countries and are very popular with participants, speakers and the general public. This publication presents the results of the “Danube Schools” network in 2018 and documents the current status of the series. An important component of the Danube School series is the project workshop, in which project ideas for the Danube region are developed. Parts of these projects as well as scientific contributions of the participants and speakers of the fifth “Danube School” in Ulm/Neu-Ulm, the 4th Danube Spring School in Novi Sad / Serbia, the 3rd Summer University of the Andrássy University Budapest and the 1st Danube School event in Ruse, Bulgaria are also published here – partly in German and partly in English.
